PDM Task List and How to Use It to Monitor Tasks
The SOLIDWORKS PDM Task List provides an overview of tasks run within the PDM system.
The PDM Task List functionality:
- View scheduled and completed tasks
- Monitor task status
- Run a task on a single or batch of files
- Troubleshoot failed tasks/errors
- Manage the Task Queue to cancel, re-run, or delete tasks.
The PDM Task List is accessed in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration tool > Tasks > Task List when logged in as a user with Administrative Permission > ‘Can view task list’
Within the task list window, the Pending tasks: section will display tasks that are being executed or waiting to be executed.
Right-clicking a pending task will display options to view Details, Suspend, Resume, or Cancel the task.
The Completed tasks: section displays tasks which have finished. Double-clicking a completed task will display the details of that task.
The Options button will display options to customize which Successful tasks and Failed tasks to record and keep.
PDM tasks can be launched manually from within the Task List window by selecting Add Task. In the Add Task dialog, select which task to run from the ‘Select task to launch’ dropdown and the click OK.
Click the Add Files… or Add Folder… buttons to add files/folders to have the task run on.
Browse to the vault and select the files or folders and then click Open.
The system will display a list of the selected files. More files can be added as needed by again selecting Add Files or Add Folder. Once you are finished, click OK to start running the task on the files.
The Task List will display the progress in Pending tasks and then the completion status in Completed tasks.
