How to Upgrade SolidNetWork License Manager
If you have SOLIDWORKS network licenses, then the first step to upgrading your environment is upgrading the SolidNetWork License Manager (SNL) to the newest version prior to upgrading SOLIDWORKS products on client machines for the SNL manager to distribute license to clients on the new version.
Note: All Borrowed licenses must be returned prior to upgrading SNL manager. Review the license borrow status on the License Usage tab of the SNL Manager.
Upgrade Process
Download the installation media to the server machine hosting the SNL manager.
Follow this link for instructions on downloading the media file SolidWorksSetup.exe
Transfer the SOLIDWORKS Product License(s)
Launch the SNL Manager on the server machine, and on the Server Administration tab, click Modify.
Move Product Licenses
Choose Move your product license(s) to a new/upgraded computer and then click Next.
Transfer Serial Numbers
Take note of all serial numbers listed before choosing Select All to highlight all serial numbers for transfer. Choose the method to transfer the serial numbers (automatic over the internet is recommended), enter your email address and then click Next to transfer your serial numbers.
Upgrade the SNL manager to the new version
Double-click the downloaded installation media file SolidWorksSetup.exe to extract the files and launch the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager.
Note: If you have already extracted the downloaded files, click the setup.exe file to launch the Installation Manager.
On the Welcome page, under Install server components, choose the option to Upgrade SolidNetWork License Manager to the new version and then click Next.
Accept The Terms
Review the Download Options, accept the terms of the SOLIDWORKS License Agreement and then click Install Now to start the upgrade. The machine used for the image below already had the files downloaded, so Install only (do not download) is displayed for the Download Options Operation.
Activate License on the Upgraded SNL Manager
Once the installation is finished, launch the SNL Manager and choose Modify on the Server Administration tab, then choose Activate/Reactivate your product license(s).
Verify Serial Numbers
Verify the serial numbers listed before choosing Select All to highlight all serial numbers for activation. Choose the method to activate the serial numbers (automatic over the internet is recommended), enter your email address and then click Next to transfer your serial numbers.
Verify License Distribution
Launch a SOLIDWORKS product on any client machine connected to the SNL Manager and then review the License Usage tab in the SNL Manager to verify the license has been distributed to the client successfully.
