How to Update SOLIDWORKS Connected and other Apps

Periodically, the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform will release updates in the form of Hotfixes for their various connected apps. Each time you launch an app, the system checks the installed version and compares it to the platform release. If no update is available, the app launches as normal. If an update has been released and has not yet been installed on your device, then a flyout will display ‘Update available’.  

 

Note, although this guide focuses on SOLIDWORKS Connected, the process is similar for the other Connected and Collaborative Designer apps on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. 

How to Update SOLIDWORKS Connected and other Apps

Click ‘Update available’ to start the update process. The 3DEXPERIENCE Installation dialog displays with options to update your installed roles. Click a specific role, if available, or click ‘Update All Roles’ to proceed.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Windows Installer will launch locally on your device. On the Welcome screen, click Next. The installer collects the required data and then displays ‘The installation program has enough information to start the update to 3DEXPERIENCE…’ click the Install button to begin.

Once the installer is done, click the Close button to finish.

Installation Success’ will now display in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform at the bottom of the screen.

Return to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, under Me, and select SOLIDWORKS Connected. This time the platform will recognize SOLIDWORKS Connected is up-to-date, and the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher will launch the software on your desktop. The 3DEXPERIENCE Platform status will display ‘Launching SOLIDWORKS Connected’ and then several seconds later you will see the SOLIDWORKS Connected splash screen appear.
