How to uninstall 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Connected

In most cases, a standard uninstall is sufficient to remove 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Connected or to resolve unexpected behavior that you may have identified to be an installation problem and then reinstall. In very rare cases, you may need to perform a thorough or clean uninstall. 

Standard Uninstall Process

Note, SOLIDWORKS Connected must be set to working online. If you are working offline, start SOLIDWORKS Connected, reconnect to your 3DEXPERIENCE platform, and then close SOLIDWORKS Connected before proceeding. 
  1. Log into the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, and on the top bar of the 3DDashboard: 
    • Click the CompassHow to Install Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS
    • Under Me, click 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS <version> 
    • Click SOLIDWORKS Connected. 
    • Click the dropdown arrow next to SOLIDWORKS Connected and select the Uninstall icon.

  1. A message will appear confirming you want to uninstall SOLIDWORKS Connect. Click the Uninstall button.

  1. 3DEXPERIENCE Installer will launch on your computer and prompt for confirmation to uninstall SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE. Click the Yes button to proceed.

  1. Once the uninstall process is complete, Uninstallation Success’ will now display in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform at the bottom of the screen.

Alternatively, you can run the uninstall manually on your local computer using these steps: 

  1. Right-click the Windows Start menu and select Apps and Features or Installed Apps. (You can also access the installed apps list via Windows Settings.) 
  2. Uninstall Dassault Systems SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R20XXx version. 

Clean Uninstall Process

In very rare cases, you may need to perform a thorough or clean uninstall. If you are unfamiliar with the Windows registry, please work with your IT group to perform these steps. 

  1. Right-click the Windows Start menu and select Apps and Features or Installed Apps. (You can also access the installed apps list via Windows Settings.) 
  2. Uninstall Dassault Systems SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R20XXx version. 
  3. In no particular order, uninstall: 
    • 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher 
    • CEF for SOLIDWORKS Applications (new with R2023x) 
    • Dassault Systemes Software VC10 Prerequisites x86-x64 
    • Dassault Systemes Software VC11 Prerequisites x86-x64 
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) 
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) 
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x64) 
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) 
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64) 
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86) 
    • Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2019 
    • WPTx64 
    • Visual Basic (VBA) 7.1 

CAUTION: If you see other versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable or Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications, then the recommendation is to NOT uninstall them. Other versions may have been installed by an older version of SOLIDWORKS Connected or they were installed by other applications. Do not uninstall other versions unless you know the applications that installed them. Uninstalling other versions may affect the functionality of other applications.   

  1. Delete the following folders:
    Since the folders are in various locations throughout Windows, and some folders may be hidden depending on your File Explorer options, we have provided the paths with the root enclosed in variable percent symbols (%) to quickly navigate to the root of the path. Simply copy the full path provided in these instructions and paste in into the address bar of Windows File Explorer and press enter to navigate to each location.

Then, in the File Explorer’s address bar, click the folder name to move up to the parent directory and delete the specified folder.

NOTE: Some of these folders are deleted by step 2 or may not exist in your environment, and some may contain important user data like downloaded media, document templates, databases, and design library files. Create a backup of the %public% and %programdata% folders before deletion.

  1. Delete the following registry keys – Windows administrative rights are required: 

 CAUTION: Incorrectly editing the registry can severely damage your operating system. The SOLIDWORKS Technical Support team strongly suggests that you back up the registry data before making any changes to the registry. If you are unfamiliar with the registry, please work with your IT group to make these changes.

  1. Restart your computer. The clean uninstall process is now complete.
