How to Restore Deleted SOLIDWORKS PDM Users

Prior to SOLIDWORKS PDM 2023, restoring a PDM user involved complex SQL database changes or creating a new user with an identical name of the deleted user without the previous user’s permissions or history. PDM 2023 and newer versions can use a new option to fully restore deleted users along with their permisisons and history.

Quick Overview of How to Delete a PDM User

  1. Prior to deleting any user:
  2. Launch the SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration tool and log into the vault.
  3. Expand ‘Users and Groups Management’ and then expand the ‘Users’ node.
  4. Right-click the user in question and then select ‘Delete’.

PDM file history will now display ‘Deleted’ next to the user’s name.
