How To Reset Your SOLIDWORKS PDM Admin Password

How do I reset the SOLIDWORKS PDM Admin password is a question you may ask yourself if you cannot recall your PDM Admin password, the PDM Admin password has been misplaced, or maybe your PDM Administrator has left the company and they were the only ones who knew the credentials.

There are two types of PDM admin passwords which may require resetting:

How to Reset the Default PDM Admin Password

1. Using an account with local administrative permissions, log in to the Archive Server machine.
2. Open the Windows Registry Editor.
3. Delete String Value named ‘Admin’ from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\Applications\PDMWorks Enterprise\ArchiveServer\ConisioUsers

4. From Windows Start > SOLIDWORKS PDM folder, launch the Archive Server Configuration tool.
5. In the opened dialog, select Tools > Default Settings…

6. On the Login tab in the Admin user section, select the Password… button. Leave the Current Password blank (that registry string was just deleted). Enter a new password and click OK to close the Admin Password dialog, then click OK again to close the Default Settings dialog.

7. Review the Windows Registry. The ‘Admin’ user registry string has now been recreated with the new password.

How to Reset a Vault Specific PDM Admin Password

1. Using an account with local administrative permissions, log in to the Archive Server machine.
2. Open the Windows Registry Editor.
3. Delete String Value named ‘Admin’ from registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\Applications\PDMWorksEnterprise\ArchiveServer\Vaults\<vaultname>\ConisioUsers

4. From Windows Start > SOLIDWORKS PDM folder, launch the Archive Server Configuration tool.
5. In the dialog, from the vault Name list, right-click the specific vault and select Properties…

6. On the Login tab, clear the option ‘Use default Admin user.’ and then press the Password… button.

7. Review the Windows Registry. The ‘Admin’ user registry string for the specific vault has now been recreated with the new password.
