How to Install the 3DEXPERIENCE Add-in for SOLIDWORKS

Step-by-Step Installation Guide Accessing the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

To begin the installation process, log into My3DEXPERIENCE. Navigate using your compass to access roles, apps, and solutions. Locate and click the Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS icon, followed by the Design with SOLIDWORKS icon. If this is your first encounter with the platform, you will be prompted to install the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher.

Installing the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher

Upon the prompting, download the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher. Once downloaded, open the MSI file and follow the on-screen prompts. Ensure you select the default location for installation, clicking ‘Next’ to proceed. After the installation completes, click ‘Finish’ and continue to the Install dialog box.

Undertaking the Add-in Installation

Returning to the platform, click once again on Design with SOLIDWORKS. This step is crucial as it will initiate the installation of all the roles contained within the design module. An on-screen dialog will guide you through this process – follow the prompts, advancing past the welcome screen.

Cloud Eligibility and Installation Location

A cloud eligibility tool may pop up to check system compatibility; however, you can choose to bypass this by clicking ‘Next’. Choose your preferred installation location next. If you have an existing vault view, it can be reused, simplifying the process. For new installations, uncheck the reuse box, continue with the next prompts, and select your vault’s location. Specify integration language preferences, and finalize your selections by clicking ‘Next’.

Finalizing the Installation

With the information now in place, finalize the installation process of the add-in for SOLIDWORKS. After completion, close the installation dialog and return to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Launching SOLIDWORKS from the design icon should now incorporate all added features.

Configuration and Launch

Once SOLIDWORKS is up and running, check your add-ins to ensure the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in is activated at startup and during active sessions. Within the task pane on the right side of your screen, you should have seamless access to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, your vault location, and any roles and apps assigned to you.
