How to Find Your SOLIDWORKS Serial Number and Version Information

A common request from technical support is for SOLIDWORKS users to provide their SOLIDWORKS serial number along with which version and service pack they are running. Below are the various methods for locating that information quickly. 

Within SOLIDWORKS Application

From the SOLIDWORKS Help menu, select About SOLIDWORKS. 

How to Find Your SOLIDWORKS Serial Number and Version Information

The About SOLIDWORKS dialog will display information about your SOLIDWORKS package, including whether it is Standard, Professional, or Premium; as well as the version year and service pack. Clicking ‘Show Serial Number’ will display the SOLIDWORKS serial number associated with your installation. 

How to Find Your SOLIDWORKS Serial Number and Version Information

From the Windows Registry (serial number display only)

If for some reason you cannot load SOLIDWORKS to find the serial number, it can be found within the Windows Registry. 

Caution: DO NOT make any changes to the serial numbers within the registry key listed below. Manual changes here may result in SOLIDWORKS becoming inoperable. 

Right-click the Windows Start button, select Run, and then type ‘regedit’ and press enter. The registry editor window will open. Use the following path to locate your serial number(s). 

SOLIDWORKS serial numbers on the client machine: 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > SolidWorks > Licenses > Serial Numbers 

How to Find Your SOLIDWORKS Serial Number and Version Information

SOLIDWORKS Network serial numbers on the server machine: 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SolidWorks\Licenses\Serial Numbers 

The serial number(s) are stored in key named: SolidNetWork License 

How to Find Your SOLIDWORKS Serial Number and Version Information

From the Windows Control Panel or Apps and Features

Another method to locate the SOLIDWORKS serial number and version information is by launching the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager. 

Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features 

Or 

Windows Start icon > Apps and Features 

Locate the SOLIDWORKS application, which includes the version and service pack number in the description. Click Change or Modify to open the Installation Manager. 

When the SOLIDWORKS installation manager appears, select ‘Modify your installation’ and click Next. The installed serial numbers are displayed on the next screen. The SOLIDWORKS version and service pack are also displayed at the top of the Installation Manager dialog.
