How to Export PDM User List

There is not a built-in magic button to export a list of users from PDM along with the users’ full names and emails, though this can be accomplished using the SOLIDWORKS PDM Report Generator from any user with PDM client installed using either a Report Generator file (.crp) or Microsoft SQL query file (.sql).

Note, to add queries to the report tool, the logged-in PDM user must have user/group administrative permission ‘Can update report queries.’ 

1. Download either the List PDM Users report or SQL query file. Either one will run in the PDM Report Generator. The .sql query file will also run in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. (Right-click to save). 

 

 

2. Log into a PDM Local Vault View and launch the PDM Report Generator from Tools > Report Generator.

3. In the Report Generator, select the Import Query icon or File > Import Query.

4. Navigate to the downloaded files from step 1. For this example, select the List PDM Users.crp file.

5. Set the Query User Rights to determine which groups or users can run this query, and then select OK close the dialog.

6. Make sure the query is selected and then click the Execute Query button or Edit > Execute Query.

7. A full list of PDM users is displayed along with their Full Name, Initials, and Email.

8. The list can be exported to a delimited .csv file by clicking the Export Results icon (save disk icon) or File > Export Results. Add a descriptive name and save the file.

9. Open the file in Excel or another spreadsheet software that can import .csv files.

10. Set the import options and then click Finish: 

 

    • Delimited 
    • Semicolon 
    • General

11. The file opens with the exported columns and can now be formatted using standard formatting tools.
