How to Disable 3DEXPERIENCE Login Prompt in SOLIDWORKS

If you have ever installed a 3DEXPERIENCE add-in or product while using SOLIDWORKS, then you most likely are prompted to log into 3DEXPERIENCE whenever you launch SOLIDWORKS. The login prompt may still display even if you have the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in disabled or uninstalled. This occurs because the prompt setting is stored in the Windows registry, so even if you turn off or uninstall the add-in requesting the login, the registry key remains and triggers the login anyways.

Logging in while selecting the Remember Me option will only leave you logged in for up to 7 days before prompting you again. If you’d like to prevent the prompt entirely, you can make a change to your registry to stop the prompt permanently.

Here is an example of a 3DEXPERIENCE add-in installed and activated, which will prompt for 3DEXPERIENCE login each time SOLIDWORKS is launched.

Once the 3DEXPERIENCE login prompt is disabled by following the steps in this guide, you will still be able to log into the 3DEXPERIENCE apps as needed manually, typically by accessing the add-in within the SOLIDWORKS Task Pane as shown below.

Step 1: Backup the Registry

CAUTION: Incorrect changes to the Windows Registry can cause installed applications or Windows to fail. Use caution when making changes to the Windows Registry or have an IT professional make these changes for you.

  1. Close all applications, including all SOLIDWORKS products.
  2. Windows search for ‘regedit’ and launch the Registry Editor app.

  1. Browse to the folder named HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dassault Systemes\SolidWorksPDM\Servers\3DEXPERIENCE and review the string value named SW_Login_Disable. By default, the value should be set to ‘False’

If the string does not exist, you can right click and select New > String Value to create SW_Login_Disable
