Adding IES Profile into SolidWorks Visualize
IES files are light profiles that help a user achieve a realistic light emission pattern. These profiles are specified by several light manufacturers which can be interpreted/demonstrated in SolidWorks Visualize.
- 1. Add the Custom IES file into your SolidWorks Visualize Lights folder. The default location is C:\ Users \Administrator \Documents \SOLIDWORKS Visualize Content \Lights and it contains several light profiles from the default installation as shown below:
- 2. Open the project in Visualize that needs the Custom Light Profile. Select the Scenes tab and click Add as shown below:
- 3. Select New Light and either select Pick Target, Pick Position, or Match Current Camera as shown below:
- 4. After selecting a New Light, choose IES Profile from the Type dropdown list as shown below:
- 5. Click the Browse button to select the Custom Profile as shown below:
- 6. Once the Custom Profile is selected, it will be applied to the project. Several adjustments can be made to the profile such as the Name, Brightness, Color, etc. A preview of the light profile can be viewed as well.
