Quickly Review Flow Results with a Cut Plot – SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation CFD 3/13

Quickly Review Flow Results with a Cut Plot - SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation CFD

Cut plots visualize  SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation Computational Fluid Design (CFD) results in a cross-section and are one of the easiest ways to review computational fluid dynamics resultsThe Preview button (eyeball icon at the top) makes it possible to preview plot changes in real-time as adjustments are made to make the results clear and understandableMultiple plots can be created to highlight different components or parameters and saved to review later or include in the final report.

Cut Plot Options

Plots can be configured to display the mesh overlay, flow lines, or just the result display to help understand the behavior inside the study domainAdjust the location of the cut plane by selecting a specific entity, reference, or simply offset the standard planes visually or numericallyFurther adjustments including transparency, the number of colors, and region cropping is possible inside the cut plot dialog to create visuals that help understand the flow.

Tips for Reviewing Results

It is best practice to initially create a cut plot of one or more of the basic result parameters like pressure, velocity, and temperatureReviewing the results initially with a mesh overlay can help to confirm the mesh is appropriately refined in the areas of interest.
