How to Install Mastercam
Whether you are a new customer or updating from a previous version on Mastercam, this article will take you through the steps of installing Mastercam.
Step 1: System Requirements
Prior to installing Mastercam, it’s best practice to review your computer’s system and hardware specifications to ensure it meets Mastercam’s minimum system requirements, such as computer processor (CPU), graphics card (GPU), Memory (RAM), storage, display, etc.
Step 2: Download the Mastercam Installation Manager
MLC CAD Systems hosts the latest version of Mastercam on our website’s help center under Installation / Configuration > How to Download Mastercam. Scroll to the bottom of the guide to find the latest versions hosted by MLC CAD Systems.
You can also download the installation manager from the Mastercam Downloads site. Either method listed below does require login from a My.Mastercam Account. An account linked to a valid license will have access to the latest and previous versions of Mastercam downloads. A non-linked account will only have access to the latest version of Mastercam.

To access previous versions, you must link your My.Mastercam Account to your Mastercam license.
Step 3: Run the Installation Manager
Navigate to where you downloaded the Mastercam installation application. Right-click and select ‘Run as Administrator’
Click the ‘Mastercam <version> Installs’ button.
The installer will review your computer’s system to verify it meets the minimum system requirements to install Mastercam. If all requirements are met, then the installer proceeds to the language selection screen. If any system requirements are not met, then the installer displays a summary. You can still proceed with the installation by clicking Next, though Mastercam may experience unexpected performance behavior without meeting the minimum requirements.
Note, the example system below does not meet the 8GB minimum requirement for memory (RAM). Clicking Next will proceed with the installation.
Select the desired language and click Next to continue.
You can choose to leave the installation configuration options as default or click ‘Configure Mastercam’ to adjust the settings as needed. Click Next to continue.
Review and accept the terms and conditions and then click Next to start the installation.
Once the installation is complete or if there are any errors, you can click the associated ‘View log file’ for more information. Click Exit to close the installer.
Step 4: Activate Mastercam
Launch Mastercam and activate your license.
- For single-user hardware licensing, insert the HASP (Hardware Key/Dongle) into an open USB port on your computer. The HASP drivers are installed when you install Mastercam.
Note:
- If a license file is already in place, you will not be prompted for activation.
- If you are using a license USB dongle that is connected to a local USB port, then Mastercam will read that license automatically without prompting for activation.
Mastercam is now ready for use.
