How To Enable Autosave and Backup in Mastercam
From phone calls and emails to social media and coworkers; in today’s world it is easy to get distracted. I once had somebody ask me how much I should save when working. My reply was, “it depends on how much you are willing to lose.” Mastercam has an option to remind you to save regularly and can even save backup copies of your work in case of problems with your active file.
1 Start by selecting the File tab at the top of the Mastercam interface.
2 Select the Configuration option.
3 Once inside the System Configuration, select the Files dropdown option.
You should now see the AutoSave / Backup option. Here, you can change how you want to save. In an instance that you may not want to save, you can have Mastercam prompt you to save or not. To the right, you will find the option to set the timer for which Mastercam will save or prompt the user to save. Once your AutoSave / Backup options are set, remember to save before exiting the System Configuration options.
4 Locate the Mastercam Backup Files settings
Below the AutoSave options, you can find the Mastercam Backup Files settings. When Using Mastercam Backup Files, Mastercam not only stores the current version of your file, but also previous saved versions as well. This allows you to view the file each time the file was saved.
5 Set the directory for the backup files location
To set the directory for the backup files location to a backup location, you will need to check the “Use backup directory as defined in Files” option.
6 Select the Backup files (Mastercam format) option
Next, under the “Files” menu, you will need to select the Backup files (Mastercam format) option in the Data paths window. Below, you will have the option to change the directory to the directory of your choice.
