FAQs

What is SIMULIA?

SIMULIA, a Dassault Systèmes brand, delivers realistic simulation applications (such as Abaqus) that enable users to explore real-world behavior of product, nature and life. SIMULIA applications accelerate the process of evaluating the performance, reliability and safety of materials and products before committing to physical prototypes.

What is SIMULIAWORKS?

SIMULIAWORKS is part of the 3DEXPERIENCE portfolio; it is for all size businesses (small, medium, or large companies) to solve all types of simulation problems, to bring new and innovative products to market before their competition.

How is it integrated and associative with SOLIDWORKS?

There are two possible workflows with SOLIDWORKS and SIMULIAWORKS on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform:

1.) SOLIDWORKS Connector lets the user save and manage SOLIDWORKS geometry on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform directly from SOLIDWORKS. There is full associativity between the SOLIDWORKS CAD and the SIMULIA simulation model both saved and managed on the platform.

2.) 3DEXPERIENCE Import lets the user save SOLIDWORKS geometry in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Associativity exists between the SOLIDWORKS CAD model saved locally and the simulation model saved on the platform.

What FEA Solver is under the hood?

3DEXPERIENCE Simulation Solutions use the Abaqus FEA solver, which is different from solver technology used by existing SOLIDWORKS Simulation (Cosmos). Abaqus, developed by the Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA brand since 1978, is a worldwide leader in structural simulation (especially non-linear analysis). Its highly respected FEA solver is used by leading companies in many industries (aerospace, automotive, high-tech, and more) to perform virtual testing and design certification.

Where is the simulation data stored?

Simulation data is stored on your 3DEXPERIENCE tenant. That means that you and your colleagues can access your simulation data, material, results from anywhere at any time.

How can I communicate my study results with others?

Once you complete a simulation, you may be interested in communicating the model and simulation results to others both inside and outside your company. You can share your simulation findings on Swym communities. Additionally, you and your collaborators will have the ability to visualize the simulation results in 3D from a simple web browser.
