Markforged - Properly Prepare Desktop Print Bed
How To Prepare Desktop Print Bed
Between each print, the Desktop Print Bed should be cleaned, inspected, and prepared for the next print job. This process is not time-consuming, but properly following these instructions will ensure the next job is successful.
First, remove any existing parts or purge strips from a previous print if they exist. Use the scraper to carefully slide under the parts to free them. If the print bed has an excessive amount of glue build-up, it may be necessary to carefully scrape it off or wash the print bed.
Watch & Read: Markforged Desktop – Washing Build Plate to remove the build-up of residue.
Next, apply glue to the clean bed surface with the provided glue stick. A thin layer should be applied to the parts of the bed where the print will sit, or the entire print bed if the next job is not yet prepared. Also, be sure to apply glue to the back for the purge strip and the tower if fiber is to be used. Fresh glue is recommended for each print job.
The final step is to insert the print bed if it has not already been installed and let the printer know it is ready for the next job. You can start the next job in the queue at the printer or let the printer know it is ready and launch a job from the Eiger cloud interface remotely when it is ready.
