Markforged - How to Adjust Fiber Nozzle Height
In this video, our Markforged expert will demonstrate “How to Adjust Fiber Nozzle Height.”
Markforged printers feature an exclusive technology that embeds continuous fiber reinforcement strands inside durable plastic parts, creating additive composite structures that rival the strength of aluminum or fiberglass materials created using conventional manufacturing methods. The plastic and fiber materials are laid down one after the other on each layer, so the two nozzles must have their height set relative to the bed as well as to each other. This procedure will show you how to adjust the fiber nozzle height after the plastic nozzle has been adjusted properly. The margin of error between the height of these nozzles is very tight, so a special stepped test part is used to test the nozzle height in an easy-to-understand way. Repeat this test as needed until the results are as expected.
Keep in mind that fibers, especially carbon fibers in the Onyx base material, are abrasive to nozzles. Even hardened nozzles will see wear, so height adjustments should be repeated at regular intervals. If you view scraping or poor print quality when fiber is used, this may be the solution.
