How to Replace the Release Nozzle - Markforged Metal X Printer

In this tutorial our Markforged expert will walk you through the process on How to Replace the Release Nozzle on your Metal X Printer. 

The Markforged Metal X printer uses two nozzles to print metal parts. One is the metal nozzle that extrudes the bound metal powder that makes up the part and the supports. The second nozzle builds with a ceramic release material that creates a thin layer of material between the part and the supports that can be easily broken for part removal. The release nozzle is used less than the metal nozzle, but if it becomes worn it is time to replace it. The printer has a utility to guide you through the process under Menu – Utilities – Maintenance – Replace Nozzles and follow the on-screen instructions.  Following this procedure will also reset the maintenance counter and keep track of usage for future replacement tracking. 

NOTE: Make sure to use the supplied wrench when replacing the nozzle, it is specially designed to limit the installation torque and avoid damaging the printer. 

NOTE: Always use anti-seize lubricant on the threads to make future removal possible.

CAUTION: The nozzle and extruder can be very hot, handle the components carefully.
